Note: Our current membership year is from October 1, 2012 to Sept 30, 2013 per our Constitution and Bylaws "Dues Section": Renewals are due prior to or on Sept 30th each year and become past due/delinquent on December 1st (at which time written notices are to be sent informing that dues have not been received and advising that the member's name will be dropped from membership role if no payment has been received within 30 days of that same written notice). Members and B.O.M. members must be members in good standing (current with their dues) in order to vote; therefore, it is important to make sure that you and/or your association's delegate are up-to-date to avoid not being represented at meetings. Please review the information below for your local association and make sure it is current, since this is the list that our Executive Secretary (Dr. Malcolm Sanford) uses as the official record for officers, delegates, meetings and contact information. Conway Rd., Orlando once a month, 7:00 p.m., Magnolia Room We have a monthly guest speaker, and bimonthly work shops on Beekeeping related topics and activities. The January meeting for OBBA is scheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2013 ~ As always, the meeting is free and open to all! This month's speaker will be Andy Miksa, of Miksa Farms who will discuss queen rearing, genetics, benefits of a good queen and other facets of bee and queen breeding.
Other, News, etc.	A message from your new President, Jason Deeringer: Greetings and Happy New Year. I am looking forward to serving as your President for 2013 and am planning on some exciting workshops, guest speakers and other activities to bring the love of beekeeping to our region. With the help of our Vice President Cathy Austin, Secretary Steve Holdeman and Treasurer Paul Allison we want to make this a productive and rewarding year for beekeepers and those who want to become beekeepers. We have three Honey Queens this year, FSBA sponsored Florida Honey Queen Susannah, OBBA sponsored Honey Queen Rose and OBBA sponsored Honey Princess Autumn. Their job is to promote beekeeping, honey and love of bees to everyone in Florida. A huge task, but they assured us they are up to the challenge.
